A few weeks ago, I overheard two moms talking, and one was telling the other one she didn’t think the pandemic was the time for school or family portraits. It made me take a step back and wonder: when is the perfect time for booking family portraits?
Let me give you three reasons for booking family portraits.
Booking Family Portraits
Is there ever a perfect time?
I mean, there will always be reasons not to book a family photo session. Right?
We find a million excuses to postpone, want a few?
I have too much work.
The weather is awful.
I don’t look my best. (This excuse is my personal favorite).
I get it! You are a very busy mom, however, if we have learned anything these past two years is that time doesn’t stop. The world keeps spinning, and there will never be a better time than now.
I know that phrase is a cliché, but it is so relevant, don’t you agree?
Have you ever gone through your parents’ or grandparents’ albums?
What do you feel when you see old photographs of yourself?
I certainly feel lots of emotions, especially because many of those people in those photographs are not here to relate their stories; therefore, the photos are all I have to remember who they were and what they meant in my life.
But, let’s go back to that mom I overheard, I understand where she’s coming from; COVID-19 has taken so much from us, lives have been lost, so many people lost jobs, hugs from a loved one, so much unforeseen change, and with that, the fear of losing even more.
But COVID-19 has also taught us what is truly important, it has brought into focus what without a doubt counts.
This brings me to:
Let us celebrate who we are as a family.
If anything, this pandemic has made it abundantly clear that we need to be present and enjoy even the simplest moments. To appreciate those around us, to practice self-care. These strange times will pass, and what we are going to be left with is our memories, and unfortunately, those will be gone too, so, let me ask you: What’s more permanent than a photograph?
Something tangible to remind us of who we were, to remind us of how beautiful and unique our kids are, of how we felt during this crazy time, of all the imperfect moments.
I urge you – please! don’t wait, and, go get your photos taken by a professional photographer, whether it’s me or someone else but don’t wait, you never know what tomorrow might bring.
